Methods: Deciduous and permanent teeth of a child with Apert syndrome and their match-paired normal teeth were examined under a light microscope and using an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer program under a scanning electron microscope, the ion component of enamel and dentine were compared.
Results: The morphology of the enamel and dentin of Apert syndrome teeth was similar to normal. Postnatal traumatic lines were observed in the enamel of deciduous and permanent teeth of Apert syndrome.
In AS teeth, the enamel and the dentin contained larger concentrations of calcium and phosphate than normal teeth. In addition, the ratio between calcium and phosphate in AS enamel and dentin was very high in comparison to normal teeth.
Conclusion: AS affects the mineralization of enamel and dentin. It caused abnormal mineral content in comparison to match paired normal teeth. The traumatic lines observed in both deciduous and permanent teeth implicate that severe traumatic episodes occurred during early childhood.
These findings show that AS also affects the mineralization of teeth in addition to the known oral motor challenges.

In Dentistry, the antibiotics are indicated for established infection and in prophylaxis or to prevent infections. The aim of this study is to make a consideration about the utilization of the antimicrobial agents in Dentistry with the purpose to check the correct use of this medicine by Dentists. For all that, it was made a transversal study, descriptive, through the application to questions to 33 of entists in several specialties, some that work in private offices, another in public office and finally professionals work in Dentistry school at Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in the city of Belo Horizonte-MG. It is of utmost importance what the dentist surgeon know and stay updated regarding the use of these drugs either in therapeutic or prophylactic use.

Open bite malocclusion is one of the hardest discrepancies to treat orthodontically. The combination of skeletal, dental, and functional factors contributes powerfully to its establishment and aggravation. The key to orthodontic treatment of open bite starts with an accurate diagnosis of the discrepancy. Comprehensive orthodontic treatment might be a good alternative to maxillofacial surgery, which has been considered for a long time the most effective treatment to correcting open bite cases in adults. However, due to its many limitations and the arise of new technologies, such as mini-implants, orthodontic treatment of moderate to severe open bite has nowadays proven itself as a pragmatic alternative to surgery. The following case report describes the treatment of a 21-year-old adult male patient presenting with a skeletal Class III malocclusion, a severe open bite and a bilateral posterior crossbite, complicated by a congenitally missing lower incisor and previously extracted upper first premolars after undergoing 2 previous orthodontic treatments. Patient underwent myofunctional therapy 2 months before orthodontic treatment was initiated in the maxillary arch where a TPA was placed for expansion and correction of the first molar rotations. Differential bonding of the maxillary arch was then initiated with the immediate placement of TADs in the posterior region to support the vertical and sagittal controls. An asymmetrical retraction mechanics was then initiated in the mandible consisting of molar distalization on the left side followed by the reshaping of the lower left canine to replace the lower lateral incisor. On the right side, the extraction of the first bicuspid and retraction using indirect maximal anchorage on the maxillary TADs was implemented. At the end of the treatment, facial enhancement was achieved at rest and during smile, with an increase of the maxillary incisors display at smile, the open bite was corrected, and molar and canine Class 1 were obtained. Finally, we will discuss the comprehensive and synergic treatment factors of dental and skeletal open bite in an adult and will highlight the application of mini-implants in the treatment of anterior open bite and discuss its long-term stability after a 4 year follow-up visit.

Aim: To present a clinical case of a permanent immature tooth with necrotic pulp, wherein pulp regeneration and further root development were induced with the use of a tricalcium silicate-based material.
Case Report: A healthy 8-year-old male was referred for endodontic treatment of a traumatized right maxillary central incisor. Clinical examination revealed a negative response to pulp vitality tests and radiographically an immature root with a wide open apex. After the canal was cleaned and disinfected, bleeding was induced in the root canal space. After a blood clot was obtained at approximately 2 mm short of the CE-junction, a plug of Biodentine was placed covering the blood clot. The access cavity was temporized with a glass ionomer cement. After 2 weeks the tooth was asymptomatic without a fistula and no swelling. After 30 months, clinical and radiographic examinations revealed an asymptomatic tooth that responded positive to vitality tests. Radiographically the root showed complete maturation with healthy surrounding tissues.
Conclusion: Based on the favorable outcome of this case, Biodentine may be considered as a suitable material for regenerative endodontic treatment of immature necrotic permanent teeth.

Keratocyst is an odontogenic cyst that, due to its aggressiveness, growth potential, and high recurrence rate was once classified as an odontogenic tumor by the World Health Organization in 2005. However, it was reclassified as an odontogenic cyst in the 2017 classification. Keratocyst is most often diagnosed on routine radiographic examinations. It can be uni or multilocular. It has a higher incidence in the posterior region and ramus of the mandible. In the maxilla, it is more frequently found in the canine region. The purpose of this paper is to present a case of a unilocular keratocyst that affected the maxillary premolar region, mimicking a periapical cyst. The lesion was surgically removed by enucleation, one of the recommended techniques for the treatment of keratocysts. Besides enucleation, marsupialization and bone resection, or a combination of these techniques, are also indicated. Keratocysts have a high recurrence rate, requiring a long period of clinical and radiographic follow-up.

Methods: In the present study, clinical and antimicrobial evaluation of two luting types of cement [(glass ionomer cement (group A) and resin cement (group B)] under custom made zirconia space maintainers.
Results: Twenty-four space maintainers (96%) remain in position and function after three months of evaluation for group A and 92% for group B. Also, there was no significant difference in the antibacterial properties between the two groups.
Conclusion: Both luting types of cement provided a sufficient success rate during the clinical evaluation period.
