Introduction: This systematic review was performed to study the indication of bone substitutes for guided bone regeneration during extraction, with its limitations and the properties.
Material and Methods: A thorough Pubmed and cochrane database search were performed on related keys words associated with the subject. Many titles and selected abstracts were independently screened, followed by full text evalutation of different metaanalysis, literature review and comparative clinical trial.
Results: This littérature review describes the behaviour of bone substitut concerning the host bone cells, as well as the resorption inside graft site.
The results for bone gain and preservation is analyzed for each origins and group of bone substitute.
More over, the bone preservation results is compared by littérature review of comparative study.
Conclusion: The origins and composition of each bone substitutes affects the behaviour of it inside the host bone: resorption and So, the utilisation and the choice of bone substitute during extraction time, need to be decided by the indication of bone gain (only space keeping or need to obtain vital bone) and timing before implantation.

Antibiotics are medicines used to prevent and treat bacterial infections. There use in health care has a beneficial impact on mankind to considerable extent. Recent reports showing an increased use of prophylactic antibiotics by dental professionals; thus raising questions concerned on whether benefits of administering antibiotic prophylaxis outweigh its inherent risks. Present review aimed to assess antibiotic prescription patterns of Indian dental practitioners and to know the quality of reporting evidence through a qualitative review of literature of Indian origin. Electronic database search for published literature indexed in Google Scholar and PubMed been done using PICo format for inclusion of qualitative studies. Full text articles retrieved and categorized according to study design for assessing the quality of reporting using their respective standardized design based checklists. Search strategy identified a total of 715 studies, 30 of which met inclusion criteria and were selected and reviewed for further analysis, which revealed an increased prescription (65%) of antibiotics by dental practitioners, most commonly penicillin. Evaluation of quality of included studies using design-based checklists observed methodological flaws and statistical weaknesses in establishing findings represents the low quality of evidence. Present review witnessed low quality of published evidence regarding use of antibiotics by dentists. This review offered only a narrow conclusion on antibiotic prescription patterns by Indian dentists; insufficient literature support and low quality of scientific reporting were the major drawbacks. Extensive, large-scale research and standardized reporting are needed to provide high quality evidence to overcome the dilemmas in antibiotic prescription.

Background: Minimally Invasive Dentistry (MID) is a modern concept that attempt to keep teeth functional for life. It is the management of caries with biological approach rather than traditional surgical approach. It is to leave the traditional GV Black concept of ‘Extension for Prevention’ behind. Now, the present-day principle is ‘Constriction with Conservation’. This has been noticed that the concept of MID is still very unclear to the practicing dentists and even to the undergraduates. To understand the knowledge and awareness of undergraduates about MID a survey is important.
Aim: The aim of this study is:
- Firstly, to assess the knowledge about MID technique among the undergraduate students and interns from my dental institution.
- Secondly, to also investigate whether the knowledge acquired by the students reflects in the form of a positive attitude towards practice of MID principles.
Methodology: A cross-sectional survey involving 50 dental students and interns of my dental institution. The questioner is close ended. The questions are to assess the respondent levels of agreement regarding diagnostic, preventive and minimally invasive restorative techniques.
Result Synthesis: In this study it was found that interns had greater knowledge of MID than final years as they had greater clinical exposure.
Conclusion: There is a need to introduce evidence-based dentistry in the dental curriculum as well as establish guidelines for caries detection, diagnosis, treatment discussion and treatment performance.

Patient C/O pus in the upper left back tooth region and mild pain. O/E sinus discharge seen IRT tooth 13, tenderness on percussion positive, class 2 gingival recession, grade 1 mobility seen. OPG taken. It shows tooth no.13 RC treated and periapical abscess can be seen adviced PT to do extraction for that tooth.

Advantages: Non-invasive, drug monitoring, biological markers, early disease detection.
Disadvantages: Inconvenient to the subject, circadian variability of sample collection.
Limitations: Bacterial degradation over time.
